Beautiful baby Charlotte arrived in to the world at the end of May and to mark the occasion her proud mamma and dada, Dorothy and Jon, booked me for a relaxed photo shoot at their home in Queens Park. I first met Dorothy and Jon when they were with their little boy Tom at the Maida Vale Parents Picnic last summer. We met again when they booked me for a lovely autumnal shoot at Paddington Recreation Ground. It was great to see how much Tom had grown and blossomed since we first met. He's just a little younger than my niece so they've got a lot in common. Both are completely Thomas the Tank Engine mad so I was well versed in the different engines that Tom presented me with. Toddlers have got a lot of energy (something I'm a little jealous of most of the time!), so as a photographer I like to just go with that. I try to make everything become a game and add in lots of variation to what we're doing. I know from hanging out with my 2 and a half year old very fiesty niece that there's no point forcing her to be something she's not. Besides, I love photos that really represent the personality of someone; be it a toddler full of energy and love for Thomas the Tank Engine or a newborn baby curiously lifting her head and exploring the world around her. I believe photographs are about identity and personality.
Welcome to the world baby Charlotte! Now go forth with curiosity and confidence knowing that you've got your big brother watching out for you :)
